Android app
Is there a Found Phones app?
Yes — a native Android app is available (see the Google Play link on the [homepage](/#apps) when published). It uses the same email and password as the website.
An iOS app is planned; the homepage may show an App Store link when it is live.
What can I do in the Android app?
- Log in with your Found Phones account
- View dashboard stats (scans, plan, contacts)
- Turn lost mode on or off
- View and share your QR code and recovery link
- Add a home-screen QR widget (does not work on all devices — the app explains this)
- Set lock-screen wallpaper in one tap from the QR tab
- Subscribe or manage your plan with Google Play billing (web/PayPal subscribers see billing managed on the website)
- See your trusted contacts (read-only — add or edit contacts on the website)
- Delete your account or recover a pending deletion
Can I edit contacts in the app?
Not yet. Add, edit, and remove trusted contacts on the website dashboard. The app shows your current list.
Will I get a notification when someone scans my QR?
Push notifications when your QR is scanned are planned but not in the current app version. Your dashboard always shows scan count and last scan time.
Dashboard and account settings
What can I manage in the dashboard?
| Area | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Account | Name, phone, location; change email or password; delete account |
| Contacts | Add, edit, or remove trusted contacts; set one emergency contact |
| Reward | Turn reward on/off; set a private amount (GBP, USD, or EUR) |
| Plan | View plan, renew, or upgrade (PayPal on web) |
| Members | Family/Business owners: invite codes and shared plan members |
| Lock screen wallpaper | Upload wallpaper, position QR, download |
What is lost mode?
Lost mode marks your phone as lost. Turn it on from Dashboard → Overview or in the Android app.
When lost mode is active:
- Your dashboard shows a Lost mode active badge
- The recovery page says your phone is marked as lost
- The Android app highlights lost status on the overview
Turn lost mode off when your phone is found or if you enabled it by mistake.
How many trusted contacts can I add?
That depends on your plan. The Standard plan allows up to 2 trusted contacts; Family and Business plans allow more. Your dashboard shows your current limit (e.g. “1/2”).
What is an emergency contact?
One trusted contact can be marked as emergency. That person appears prominently on your recovery page as a dedicated call button so finders can reach them quickly if you cannot answer.
How do Family and Business plan sharing work?
If you own a Family or Business plan, go to Dashboard → Members to:
- Generate invite codes for people who should join your plan
- See who has joined and remove members if needed
Members who redeem a code get their own recovery page and QR code without paying separately. Invite codes are entered at checkout or on the subscribe page.
How do I set up an optional reward?
Go to Dashboard → Reward, turn the reward on, and enter an amount. Finders only see that a reward is available — not how much. You arrange payment directly when the phone is returned.
How do I change my email or password?
Dashboard → Account. You need your current password to change email or set a new password.
How do I delete my account?
Dashboard → Account → Delete account. Your account is locked immediately and permanently deleted after 15 days. You can cancel deletion within that period using the link in the confirmation email or the [account recovery](/account-recovery) page.
The same deletion flow is available in the Android app under Settings.
Getting started
What is Found Phones?
Found Phones is a phone recovery service. You get a personal QR code that links to a simple recovery page. If someone finds your phone, they scan the code and can call you, message you, or reach your trusted contacts — without needing to unlock your device or guess who owns it.
You can display the QR on your lock screen using our wallpaper editor on the website, with one-tap lock-screen wallpaper in the Found Phones Android app, or via a home-screen QR widget (availability varies by device).
How do I create an account?
1. Go to [Get started](/register) and enter your mobile number. 2. Tap Send verification code — we text you a 6-digit code (via Twilio). 3. Enter the code on the same page to verify your number. 4. Complete the form with your email, name, and password (at least 8 characters). Agree to the [Terms](/terms) and [Privacy Policy](/privacy). 5. Choose a subscription plan and pay with PayPal (or subscribe in the Android app via Google Play). 6. Open your [Dashboard](/dashboard/) and complete the quick-setup steps.
Your verified mobile number is saved to your account as your recovery phone. You can update it later in Dashboard → Account.
Do I need a subscription?
Yes. Your recovery page and QR code only work while your subscription is active. If your plan expires, finders who scan your QR will see a “Page not available” message until you renew from Dashboard → Plan.
How much does it cost?
Plans and prices are shown on the [homepage](/#pricing) and at checkout. The Standard plan is £1.99 per year and includes up to two trusted contacts. Family and Business plans offer more contacts, sharing, and other features — check the live pricing on the site.
How do I pay?
- Website: Pay securely with PayPal when you choose or renew a plan.
- Android app: Subscribe with Google Play billing on the Plan tab. If you subscribed on the web, the app shows that billing is managed elsewhere — use the website to change or renew that plan.
- Family or Business: Plan owners can generate invite codes so others join without buying their own subscription (see below).
An iOS app is planned; App Store billing will apply when it is available.
Plans and billing
How do I renew or upgrade?
Go to Dashboard → Plan. If your plan expired, renew there with PayPal. To upgrade, choose a higher plan if one is available.
You must acknowledge how renewal works before activating or renewing.
What happens if my subscription expires?
Your recovery page goes offline and QR scans will not show your details until you renew. You can still log in and renew from the Plan page.
I subscribed on Google Play — how do I cancel?
Open the Found Phones app → Plan, or manage the subscription in Google Play → Subscriptions. Website/PayPal plans are managed from Dashboard → Plan on the web.

QR code and lock-screen wallpaper
What does my QR code link to?
Your QR code links to a unique recovery page on Found Phones, for example:
Only people who scan the code (or open that link) can see your recovery page. It is not listed in search engines. New accounts receive a long, random link that is harder to guess than older short codes.
What does the QR code look like?
By default, your QR code includes a white background pad and red “SCAN IF FOUND” text on all four sides so it is obvious even when your phone is face-down or rotated.
You can download a plain QR without labels from the dashboard image URL with `?raw=1` if you prefer a minimal code for printing.
How do I put the QR code on my lock screen?
On the website — use Dashboard → Lock screen wallpaper:
1. Upload a screenshot or wallpaper image (JPEG, PNG, or WebP). For best results, use an image the same size as your phone screen. 2. The editor shows a phone preview. Your QR code appears on top of the wallpaper. 3. Drag the QR code to where you want it — many people place it in a lower corner where it is visible on the lock screen but not over the clock. 4. Adjust QR code size with the slider (15%–35% of the screen width; smaller codes may not scan). 5. Leave White background pad checked if you want the labelled “SCAN IF FOUND” version (recommended). 6. Click Download wallpaper, then set that image as your phone’s lock-screen wallpaper in your device settings.
On Android — open the QR tab in the Found Phones app and tap Set lock screen wallpaper for a one-tap wallpaper with your QR code.
Tip: Take a screenshot of your current lock screen (with no notifications if possible), upload it to the editor, position the QR, then download — that way the clock and layout match your real phone.
Where should I position the QR on the wallpaper?
There is no single correct position — it depends on your phone model and wallpaper. Good options:
- Bottom-left or bottom-right — often visible on lock screens and away from the time/date.
- Below the clock on a plain area of your wallpaper.
- Avoid covering the fingerprint sensor area if you use one at the bottom of the screen.
Use the preview to check nothing important is hidden. You can tap Reset position to start again.
Can I download just the QR code?
Yes. On Dashboard → Overview, your QR code is shown as an image. Right-click (or long-press on mobile) to save it, or open `/dashboard/qr-image.php` while logged in.
In the Android app, open the QR screen to view, share, or add a home-screen widget.
Do I need a new wallpaper every time I change settings?
Your QR link stays the same unless your account is reset. You only need to create a new wallpaper if you change phones, change screen resolution, or want to move or resize the QR.
Recovery page (what finders see)
What happens when someone scans my QR code?
They open your recovery page and see:
- Your name and optional location (if you added one)
- Call owner and Message owner buttons (if you added your phone number) — your number is not shown on the page
- An emergency contact button (if you flagged one trusted contact)
- Call contact 1, Call contact 2, and so on for other trusted contacts — names and numbers are not shown
- A note if a reward is available (the amount is never shown to finders)
When a finder calls a trusted contact, the call may use withheld caller ID (`#31#` prefix on UK/EU networks) so your contact does not automatically see the finder’s number.
Each scan is logged. Your dashboard shows the total scan count and the time of the last scan.
What information is public on my recovery page?
Finders can see what you choose to add: your name, optional location, and whether a reward is offered. They can tap buttons to call or message you or your trusted contacts — but phone numbers are not displayed on the recovery page.
They cannot see your email address, password, trusted contact names, contact phone numbers, or the private reward amount.
Why would someone see “Page not available”?
The recovery page is hidden if:
- The QR link is wrong or outdated
- Your subscription is not active
- Your account is scheduled for deletion
Renew your plan or recover your account from the email link if that applies.
